Defense:

Luis Birrueta (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – The Tacoma Stars Reserves are off to a fantastic start to their season and a big part of it has been their stellar defensive efforts, including an 8-2 win over Snohomish County this weekend behind the outstanding play of goalkeeper Luis Birrueta. The Yakima native didn’t allow a goal until the fourth quarter making countless saves to keep the Stars Reserves unbeaten in the league. This is Birrueta’s second Player Of The Week award this season but first one that he didn’t share the award with another Tacoma keeper.

Other nominees: Manny Nicasio (Oly Town)

Isidro Prado-Huerta (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – While Birrueta was instrumental in goal, Isidro Prado-Huerta exploded offensively for the Stars Reserves scoring three times in the first half en route to a five goal, one assist night and his first Player Of The Week award this season. He scored 15 goals last season for Tacoma and has already posted 10 goals this season through just four games. The Highline College and Seattle U product won a POTW award last season when he scored six goals in the season opener for the Stars Reserves.
