Matt Stalnik (Oly Town Artesians) – The Oly Town Artesians improved to 2-0 this season thanks to the work of their veteran goalkeeper, Matt Stalnik. While the team’s offense was not clicking in the first half, Stalnik kept them in the game, allowing just one goal through the first 30 minutes in a low scoring 1-0 halftime score. The offense picked it up with seven goals in the second half and Stalnik allowed just three goals the rest of the way to pick up the 7-4 win over Snohomish. A member of the WISL since the very first season, Stalnik captured a Player Of The Week award last season in an 8-7 win over Tacoma.
Other nominees: Ray Mouloungui (Tacoma), Austin Rogers (Portland)
Fellipe Souza (Tacoma Stars Reserves) – While a veteran WISL player picked up the defensive Player Of The Week award this week, Tacoma’s Fellipe Souza continued a trend for Offensive Player Of The Week – following Yuta Shimazu in week one – picking up the award in his first game in the league. Souza, a Brazilian who played his college soccer at Fresno Pacific, scored three times in the first half, helping erase an early deficit for the Stars Reserves in their 10-6 win at the Sportsplex in Bellingham.
Other nominees: Ivan Colin (Bellingham), Emanuel Ceja (Portland)
