Nate Ford – Tacoma Stars Reserves – The wily veteran capped off a fantastic regular season with a goal and three assists in their 4-2 win over the Oly Town Artesians. Ford’s goal was a nice pass to himself off of the wall to shed the defender and give himself an open shot, a move that shows Ford’s experience as a founding member of the WISL. A consummate post forward who often stalks around the keeper waiting for his opportunity, Ford led the Stars Reserves with 12 goals, his most goals since a 15 goal season in 2015-2016.
JJ Olson – Oly Town Artesians – JJ Olson drew rave reviews from everybody that watched the Artesians/Stars Reserves game on Saturday night. The Oly Town keeper made 27 saves in their 4-2 loss, single-handedly keeping the Artesians in the game long enough for them to cut their deficit to just one goal in the middle of the fourth quarter. The Saint Martin’s alum’s return this season is one of the biggest reasons that the Artesians made such a big turnaround and qualified for the playoffs. In nine regular season starts, he posted a 5.37 goals against average and held both Bellingham and the Stars Reserves to just four goals in the final two games.
