Oly Town Artesians vs. Bellingham United
The Pavilion at The Evergreen State College – 6:35 PM
After a decent start to the season that put them in a good position for a playoff spot, the Oly Town Artesians collected just two points over their last five games and now need to pull off a major upset over the last two weeks or get some help to qualify. A win tonight would clinch a playoff spot but they face a Bellingham United team they have never beaten and fell to earlier in the season, 8-1. Alec Zimmerman leads Oly with seven goals, but is not expected to play. Manny Nicasio and Collin Tate have chipped in five goals apiece.
The Hammers have already qualified for the playoffs and still have slim regular season championship hopes alive, but it would take two losses over the final two weeks by the Stars Reserves. They are led by Nick Cashmere’s 18 goals, along with 13 goals from Richard Henderson and 12 from Eleazar Galvan.
Oly-Pen Force vs. Tacoma Stars Reserves
Oly-Pen Sports Center – 7:30 PM
The Tacoma Stars Reserves just need a win to clinch their second straight regular season championship and extend their 20 game unbeaten streak. They are once again the stingiest team in the league, allowing just 25 goals behind Goalkeepers Mike Arguello and Alek Greenleaf. Last time out against the Force, those two teamed up to pitch a shutout, just the third in league history. Nate Ford leads the Reserves with nine goals, followed by Ismael DeLuna’s seven.
The Oly-Pen Force are just one point behind the Artesians for fourth place and just two points behind the Snohomish Skyhawks for third place. While it will take a major upset this week, you can’t help but look at next week’s matchup against Tacoma Narrows. Alex Hernandez has been fantastic this season and is now second in the league with 15 goals. Cole Weaver has provided a solid presence in goal since taking over in week three.
Tacoma Narrows vs. Snohomish Skyhawks
Tacoma Soccer Center – 7:45 PM
Tacoma Narrows needs a win to keep their playoff hopes alive while the Skyhawks could clinch a playoff spot with a win and a loss by the Force or Artesians. But the Skyhawks are on quite the streak right now, posting three draws over the first three games of the second half. They pulled off the surprise tie against the Stars Reserves in week six, picked up a point with a 3-3 draw in Olympia, and then battled to a 6-6 draw against the Force. They are led by Kevin Flavin’s eight goals while Andrew Escalante has chipped in seven times. They are third in the league in least goals allowed behind Trevor Davoren in goal.
Tacoma Narrows, despite just one win, find themselves in the best position of any team to make a run late run at the playoffs. They have already played Bellingham and the Stars Reserves in the second half and now control their own destiny against the Skyhawks and Force in week 10. AJ Nitzel is fifth in the league with 11 goals and Nick Mejia trails him with six.
