Oly Town Artesians 9, Oly-Pen Force 6

The Oly-Pen Force put four goals on the board in the first quarter but were held to just two goals over the final three quarters and Nate Boatright scored the game winner in the fourth quarter in the Oly Town Artesians 9-6 win in Bremerton on Saturday night.

Alex Hernandez started the scoring early in the first quarter and it looked like the Force were off to the races. Marco Lopez made it 2-1, Hernandez added another goal, and then Colin Ralston scored to give Oly-Pen a 4-2 lead after the first 15 minutes. But after that, the Force could only manage goals by Hernandez and Agustin Suarez the rest of the way.

Alec Zimmerman scored the first of his two goals for the Artesians to tie the game 5-5 early in the third quarter. He then tied it again at 6-6 with his second goal just 15 seconds into the fourth quarter. Nate Boatright then scored what proved to be the game winner with 8:51 left off a pass by Zimmerman. Oly Town scored two insurance goals down the stretch to take the 9-6 win and snap a WISL winless streak that stretched back to December 16th, 2017.

Tacoma Stars Reserves 6, Snohomish Skyhawks 3

The Tacoma Stars Reserves and Snohomish Skyhawks battled during the first half hitting the locker room with Tacoma leading, 3-2. But after the break, two quick goals by Danny Minniti and Logan Jones broke the game open and the Stars Reserves continued their winning streak with a 6-3 victory.

Ismael DeLuna opened the scoring for the Stars Reserves just two minutes into the game but Kevin Flavin answered for the Skyhawks in an even first quarter that ended 1-1. Jones made it 2-1 Stars Reserves before JJ Schmeck scored on a penalty shootout to make it 3-1. Andrew Escalante closed out the first half scoring and cut it to a one goal game just seven seconds after Schmeck’s PK.

After Minniti and Jones gave the Stars Reserves a 5-2 lead, Escalante scored once more in the third quarter to make it just a two goal game. But the Tacoma defense stepped up to shutout the Skyhawks for the final 24 minutes, Nate Ford scored an insurance goal, and the Stars Reserves kicked off their title defense with the 6-3 win.
