On the heels of the most goals scored in a game this season and the least goals conceded in a game this season, the Western Indoor Soccer League coaches and club operators have voted Bellingham United forward/coach Richard Henderson and Tacoma Stars Reserves defender Logan Jones as their Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for game played on December 8th.
Logan Jones was a key component of the Tacoma Stars Reserves defensive unit that allowed just one goal to the Snohomish Skyhawks on Saturday night. The Auburn native and Tacoma Community College alum won an Evergreen Premier League title with Washington Premier FC this season before returning to the Stars Reserves and leading a defense that has allowed just three goals over their first two games. He was also credited with a goal in the game. This is his first Defensive Player of the Week award.
With eight goals through three games, Bellingham United’s Richard Henderson just continues to dominate the WISL. His five goal outburst in a 14-7 win over the Oly Town Artesians earned the Scottish forward his third Offensive Player of the Week award over the past two seasons. Henderson now has 56 regular season goals over his four seasons with the Hammers and has United rolling as a player/coach, sitting in first place at 3-0-0 with 34 goals scored this season.
This is the second Defensive POTW award for the Stars Reserves, getting the award for both of their games so far. And this is the third POTW award for Bellingham United. Jared Davis won Offensive POTW for week one and Conner Moe won Defensive POTW last week.
Jones was the only nominee for Defensive POTW this week. Tacoma Narrows FC’s Jeremy Maldonado was also nominated for Offensive POTW his two goal, two assist effort in their 9-7 win over the Oly-Pen Force.
