TACOMA, WA— The Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) today announces that after a vote of club coaches and operators, Nick Cashmere of Bellingham United (Offense) and goalkeeper Nate Salveson of the Olympic Force (Defense) are the WISL Players of the Week for matches played January 20, 2018.
Nick Cashmere (Offense) – Bellingham United
Nick Cashmere has been named WISL Offensive Player of the Week for his 4 goals scored against the Snohomish Skyhawks in Bellingham’s recent 12-6 at the Sportsplex. Nick keeps adding to his record in this regard. This is the 5th Player of the Week honor for Cashmere, most in WISL history (Tacoma Stars Reserves goalkeeper Aaron Anderson has 4.) Three of those have come this season: November 18, December 2, and now again on January 20th. Cashmere now has 13 goals on the season, good for second place in golden boot race.
Nate Salveson (Defense) – Olympic Force
The flu bug has hit the WISL just like everywhere else, but sometimes you just have to suck it up and play. That’s what Nate Salveson did last Saturday in a tight 8-6 win over the Oly Town Artesians in Olympia. There was a rapid fire 3-save sequence in the second half that stood out, and Nate got 16 saves overall as the Force continued their second half of the season surge.
