BELLINGHAM, WA— Bellingham United trailed the Tacoma Stars Reserves 7-6 with under 6 minutes left on Saturday night at the Bellingham Sportsplex. Then the 2-time defending WISL Champions reeled off 3 straight goals to come back for a 9-7 victory.
It was a great contest that featured goal matched by goal, each side not willing to surrender momentum. The Stars led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. It was 4-4 at the half and all even at 6-6 when the Stars Reserves took a short-lived 7-6 lead on a Jay Weinman goal before the Hammers rallied late.

Bellingham’s big 4th quarter was orchestrated by Nick Cashmere, who ended the night with 3 goals and 2 assists. His output included 2 goals in the final period. Tacoma were led by a first-half hat trick from Danny Minniti.
The match drew level at 7-7 when Uriel Herrera scored with just 3 minutes left. Cashmere got credit for the eventual winner with 2 minutes to play on a soft shot that went right through the arms of Tacoma’s goalkeeper. The Hammers clinched the result with 55 seconds to go on a strike from player / coach Brendan Quilici.
