Kurtis Pederson scored a hat trick as the Hammers won in Snohomish.

SNOHOMISH, WA— Bellingham United FC (1-0-0) kicked off defense of their WISL title with an 8-3 win over the Snohomish Skyhawks (0-0-1) on Saturday November 12 at the Snohomish Soccer Dome.

Kurtis Pederson led the Hammers with three goals. Richard Henderson was close behind with two. Snohomish countered with two from Tye Hastings.


René Caro (see clip above) opened the scoring for BUFC in the first quarter. Tye Hastings brought the match level before the Hammers jumped ahead in the second quarter. Four Bellingham strikes were answered by just one for the Skyhawks – a second goal for Hastings. It was 5-2 at halftime.

The only goal of the third quarter was scored by Pederson, who completed his hat trick with the strike. In the fourth Bellingham suffered an own goal but then saw Matt Sanchez get one and Henderson complete a brace for the 8-3 final.

Bellingham goals: Kurtis Pederson (3), Richard Henderson (2), René Caro, Bernardo Ibarra, Matt Sanchez.

Snohomish goals: Tye Hastings (2), Bellingham own goal.
