It’s Quilici, Liddle as Hammers sweep Player of Week honors

BELLINGHAM, WA—Brendan Quilici (offense) and Riley Liddle (defense) are the Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) Players of the Week for January 2 matches as Bellingham United becomes the first club to sweep the weekly honors.

The Hammers beat the previously undefeated Olympic Force 9-4 thanks to a hat trick and an assist from player-head coach Quilici. The BUFC defense held the highest scoring club in the WISL to 2 goals most of the way.

hammersThe Hammers are becoming known for their cohesion. Earlier in the season the club had ten different scorers in a single match. It was a team win for the Black and White, but Quilici’s goals provided important spark. Brendan scored 2 in the first half as United led 6-1. Then he added a second half goal as Olympic was trying to make the match closer.

Olympic was averaging 9 goals per match coming into their visit to Bellingham. Solid team defense, organized by Liddle, kept the Force off-kilter the whole night. When shots did get through, Riley was there to push away the danger or make the timely save.
