BELLINHGAM, WA— (club release) Long-time fan favorite and Bellingham United midfielder Brendan Quilici has been announced as the Bellingham United indoor squad’s head coach. Quilici, who has been playing for the Bellingham indoor squads WSA Rapids and Bellingham United for the past five years, has accepted the position as a head coach of the indoor side. Quilici will have a dual role as he will remain playing a key role in the lineup for Bellingham United. Bellingham United will be entering into its second season in the Western Indoor Soccer League.
Quilici is taking the helm after long-time indoor head coach Mark Lackey has stepped aside for professional and family commitments. When asked about stepping in as the head coach for BUFC Quilici commented “I’m excited for this opportunity to become the coach of Bellingham United indoor. I look forward to a good season. Hopefully we can continue with the success that we had under Mark Lackey.”
Brendan Quilici, left, will play and coach for BUFC in the WISL.
“Bellingham United is excited to have Brendan move into the coaching role for the upcoming WISL season. Brendan has been a long-time player for both the indoor and outdoor squad and is a true leader of the team. Moving into the coaching role is a natural progression for Brendan and the team. In addition to coaching, Brendan will be playing with the team helping to keep the high standards the team has set over the last several seasons,” stated Marc Ronney, Bellingham United General Manager.
Bellingham United will begin indoor training with open tryout starting Oct 17 11 AM – 1 PM at the Bellingham Sportsplex. Player registration fee is $25.00.
