The Western Indoor Soccer League today announces that Kellan Brown of Bellingham United has been named the WISL Playoffs Offensive Player of the Week. The league also announces that Adam West of the Tacoma Stars has been named WISL Playoffs Defensive Player of the Week. Both played key roles as their clubs advanced to this Saturday’s WISL Final to be held at 7:30 PM at the Tacoma Soccer Center.
Kellan Brown scored two goals and added an assist as the BUFC Hammers edged the Wenatchee Fire 8-6 in the WISL semifinals. Brown scored the winner for Bellingham in a wild fourth quarter that saw Wenatchee fight all the way back from a 6-2 deficit to a 6-6 tie. Kellan stemmed the tide and scored late in the match to put the Hammers up 7-6 and save the day for Bellingham. During the regular season Brown was tied for third in the WISL in goals scored with 9. He continues that prowess in the playoffs and looks to be a key factor in the WISL Final.
Adam West played his last match of the season for the Tacoma Stars on Saturday when they hosted the Oly Town Artesians in the WISL semifinals. West is off to training now with the outdoor Louisville City FC club of the USL. Before he left he wore the Captain’s armband one more time for Tacoma, and delivered a solid performance on defense for the Stars, helping keep Oly’s attackers under control when it mattered most. West helped shut down an Oly offense that was scoring at a rate of nearly 7 goals per match. The Stars jumped out to a 5-0 lead in an eventual 10-5 win. West also contributed on the scoreboard, scoring a long-range bomb.
The Western Indoor Soccer League Championship will be played on Saturday February 14 at 7:30 PM at the Tacoma Soccer Center. The Final features the 9-0-0 Tacoma Stars versus the 6-2-1 Hammers of Bellingham United. Tickets are available online at www.TacomaStars.com.
