Stars blank Fire, clinch regular season WISL top spot and home playoffs edge

In other matches in the WISL, Bellingham topped Arlington 7-4 and Oly Town played a high-scoring friendly against the Oly Indoor All Stars that ended 11-9 for the All Stars.

TACOMA, WA — The Tacoma Stars are now 7-0-0 in the Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) after their latest victory included a rare twist—an indoor soccer shutout. Five different Tacoma players scored on the offensive side while goalkeeper Aaron Anderson played the full 60 minutes, collected 17 saves, and held the Fire scoreless. It was a 5-0 final before a packed house at the Tacoma Soccer Center. Tacoma Rainiers mascot Rhubarb high-fived his way around the venue on Wingman Brewers Tacoma scarf night.

The result sets the WISL playoffs. The #1 Stars will host the #4 Oly Town Artesians in the first round on February 7 at the Tacoma Soccer Center. Further details will be announced soon. In the other semifinal Bellingham United FC will host the Wenatchee Fire. If the Stars advance past Oly Town they would host the WISL Final the following weekend.
