Stars survive test from Arlington to move to 6-0-0 in WISL play

by Atif Bhatti

ARLINGTON, WA—Less than 24 hours after falling to the San Diego Sockers in the team’s first MASL match, the Stars got back into their groove with a 5-1 win over Arlington on Saturday night in WISL play. The victory keeps the Stars undefeated this season in the Western Indoor Soccer League with a 6-0-0 record while the Aviators endure their sixth consecutive game without a win.

The first half was very fast and saw an abundance of counter-attacking from both sides. The lone goal of the opening half came from the Aviators, who made sure that a power play chance due to a PJ Vargas blue card was not wasted. On the free kick following the blue card foul, the Aviators fired a shot that was initially saved by Aaron Anderson but Momo Drammeh made the finish on the backdoor to put the Aviators up 1-0.
