TACOMA, WASH.— The Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) will begin its first season with four of the five clubs kicking off on Saturday November 15, 2014. On the inaugural match night the Tacoma Stars will host Bellingham United and the Arlington Aviators will host the Wenatchee Fire. The Oly Town Artesians will have a bye the first week and will open their season the following weekend when they host the Tacoma Stars on November 22.

The WISL (pronounced “whistle”) season features home and away matches between all five clubs with the top four ending the year with playoffs to decide the champion. The playoffs are slated for February 7-8 when the first place club will host the fourth place club and the second will host the third in elimination matches. The WISL Championship Final is scheduled for the weekend of February 14-15.

WISL clubs are currently scheduling friendlies to play both before the season kicks off and to fill bye weeks. The Tacoma Stars will host the professional Seattle Impact FC of the national Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) on Saturday October 25 at the Tacoma Soccer Center.

The Northwest Indoor Soccer Invitational, featuring WISL clubs and other elite indoor squads from around the region will be held on November 1 also at the Tacoma Soccer Center.

“We believe the first season is going to be very entertaining,” says WISL Commissioner John Crouch. “There is very little room for error with an 8-match season before the playoffs. These clubs are really going to be battling. With 4 out of 5 of the WISL clubs either participating in the playoffs, in the PASL Pro or at the PASL Premier National tournament over the last few years we expect the competition to be intense at just about every match.”

The WISL features elite amateur indoor soccer players on local clubs in competitive arena action. Soccer centers will open their doors for supporters to rally behind their hometown teams and give sports fans a budget-friendly option during the winter.

The individual clubs will have further details about their own schedules in the coming weeks. Fans can follow the new league at www.WISLNews.com, www.Facebook.com/WISLnews, and www.Twitter.com/WISLnews.
